I grew up and attended high school on Vancouver Island.  From there I headed to the University of Alberta for my post-secondary education and field hockey career.  I met my husband Jeff Johnson (a Hugh Sutherland School Graduate) at the U of A and in 2003 we settled in Didsbury to start our teaching careers. At Didsbury High School, I taught mostly PE, Science 9, Bio 20, Athletic Therapy, and Outdoor Education. I coached basketball, track & field, and began a field hockey program. When I returned to teaching after having my two rambunctious boys now ages 13 and 14 and starting an excavation company with Jeff (Alberta Septic & Excavating), I taught grade 5 at Westglen Middle School. All my life, my passion has been sport. I love them all! From 1996-2003 I played Field Hockey for Canada and competed in many international tournaments including a Jr. World Cup, two Commonwealth Games, and two Pan American Games. Currently I enjoy riding my trials dirt bike, skiing, and mountain biking. My current goal is to compete in a race that involves both trail running and mountain biking. I enjoy sharing my passion for sport and physical education with the students at Hugh Sutherland.
